Introduction to Hydrogen Pipeline Integrity

2-Day Short Course, MARCH 12-13, 2024, CALGARY, AB:

The Pipeline Integrity Institute, within the Faculty of Applied Science at the University of British Columbia, is excited to host a two-day short course on Hydrogen Pipeline Integrity. In collaboration with Rosen’s The Competence Club, the short course is facilitated by well-known expert and lecturer in this field, Neil Gallon.

What will the courses cover?

  1. Hydrogen Pipeline Integrity – history, role in energy transition, understanding effects of hydrogen in pipelines,
  2. Hydrogen Pipeline Integrity Management of Hydrogen and Future Fuels – also includes mini workshop on how to repurpose existing gas pipelines.

Who Should Attend?

  • All pipeline integrity personnel, including those new to the industry.
  • These courses are especially suitable for pipeline engineers or managers looking to enhance their wider understanding of integrity management concepts and the implications of the new emerging fuel pipelines.

Day 1: Introduction to Hydrogen Pipeline Integrity, by Neil Gallon

Date: Tuesday, March 12, 2024 (8:30am – 4:30pm MST)

Aimed at engineers and practitioners who are involved with pipeline integrity management system framework. The course covers the role of hydrogen in the energy transition, differences between hydrogen & natural gas pipelines, conversion of existing pipelines, effects of hydrogen on pipeline materials.

Day 2: Introduction to Hydrogen Pipeline Integrity, by Neil Gallon

Date: Wednesday, March 13, 2024 (8:30am – 4:30pm MST)

Aimed at practicing professionals who are involved with pipeline integrity management. The course covers defect assessment & integrity management of hydrogen pipelines, introduction to integrity management of future fuels pipelines, and a workshop on repurposing existing gas pipelines.
