Pipeline Geohazard 2-Day Short Course, NOVEMBER 13-14, 2025, VANCOUVER, BC:
The Pipeline Integrity Institute, within the Faculty of Applied Science at the University of British Columbia, is excited to host a two-day short course on Hydrogen Pipeline Integrity. In collaboration with Pipeline Integrity Institute, the short course is facilitated by three well-known experts and lecturers in this field, Dr. James Oswell, Mark Leir, and Dr. Dharma Wijewickreme.

- Associated Soil Mechanics for Buried Pipelines.

Day 1: Geohazard Management & Associated Soil Mechanics for Buried Pipelines
Date: Thursday, November 13, 2025 (8:30am – 4:30pm PST)
The course covers the role of geotechnical input to pipeline design and integrity management, pipeline failure modes from ground movement, characteristics of geotechnical hazards and hydrotechnical hazards, seismic geohazards, pipeline routing and design, soil mechanics relating to geohazards and pipeline design and mitigation, and soil strength testing and stress analysis.
Day 2: Geohazard Management & Associated Soil Mechanics for Buried Pipelines
Date: Friday, November 14, 2025 (8:30am – 4:30pm PST)
The course covers pipeline soil interaction concepts, designing pipelines for seismic hazards, quantifying pipe and ground movements, and relevant case studies.
