Pipeline Integrity Institute within the Faculty of Applied Science at the University of British Columbia in collaboration with The Competence Club is excited to provide a short course on Pipeline Integrity Management taught by well-known experts in this field, Chris Holliday, Principal Engineer, ROSEN UK and Christopher Curtis, Senior Integrity Engineer, ROSEN Canada.

What will the courses cover?

This comprehensive two-day course is designed to equip participants with in-depth knowledge and practical skills in pipeline defect assessment and the interaction of defects in pipeline integrity management. The course covers the evaluation of pipeline imperfections, including corrosion, gouges, dents, cracks, and weld imperfections, as outlined in CSA Z662 Clause 10.10. Participants will also explore the complexities of defect interactions and the implications for pipeline integrity management, supported by real-world case studies.

Day 1: Pipeline Defect Assessment – by Chris Holliday & Christopher Curtis

November 5, 2024 (8:30am – 4:30pm MT)

Aimed at engineers and practitioners requiring an introduction to or a refresher on pipeline defect assessment. The course covers the fundamentals of pipeline defects from corrosion, gouges, arc burns, dents, cracks, weld imperfections, wrinkles & buckles, to capabilities of ILI technologies, degradation of data, validation of results, growth of imperfections, ILI runs and integration of technologies, and a real-world case study of defect assessment & implications for pipeline operators.

Day 2: Threat Interaction in Pipeline Integrity Management – by Chris Holliday & Christopher Curtis

November 6, 2024 (8:30am – 4:30pm MT)

Aimed at practicing professionals who are involved with pipeline integrity management. The course covers interacting imperfections of same & different classifications, other threats, combined ILI technologies for comprehensive assessment.
